Coconut oil forms the base of our body bars. In saponified form (Sodium Cocoate), it gently cleanses the skin and creates a creamy foam.
What is coconut oil?
Coconut oil is pressed from the flesh of coconuts. It is one of the most used oils in natural soap making because of its excellent foaming properties.
Why do we use it?
In our body bars, coconut oil is saponified into Sodium Cocoate. This means the oil has been converted into soap through a reaction with lye (saponification). The result is a mild, cleansing soap that foams well but doesn't dry out the skin.
How do you recognize coconut oil on the label?
On the label, saponified coconut oil is listed as Sodium Cocoate. Unsaponified coconut oil would be listed as Cocos Nucifera Oil.
